On January 6, 2026, the 'Caring for Young Doctors' Growth · Assisting Patients in Need' charitable funding project, initiated by Professor Qi Xiangqian, the chief expert of the Cardiothoracic and Cardiovascular Disease Diagnosis and Treatment Center at Tianjin Pengruili Hospital, was officially launched at Cangzhou Fifth Hospital (Qing County People's Hospital).

Leaders from relevant departments in Tianjin to local health and medical insurance systems highly recognized and strongly supported this public welfare project. Relevant units collaborated and provided full support, ensuring the smooth implementation of the charitable initiative.

The funds will be directed toward two key areas: on one hand, they will be used for the training of young medical professionals at Qingxian People’s Hospital to strengthen the foundation of grassroots medical talent; on the other hand, they will be used to assist low-income patients with cardiovascular diseases, providing them with tangible medical support.

Professor Qi Xiangqian has been deeply engaged in the field of cardiovascular medicine for 50 years. Not only is he highly skilled, but he also possesses a profound sense of public welfare. Since returning to China in 2001, he has consistently participated in charitable work in his spare time for more than 20 years. In 2022, he resolutely resigned from his administrative position and gave up his annual salary to dedicate himself entirely to full-time public welfare work. In just four years, his charitable footprint has spread across many regions, including Hebei, Tianjin, Yan’an, and Hulunbuir in Inner Mongolia. He has visited and assisted 32 county-level and higher hospitals, completed approximately 9,000 outpatient consultations, 500 interventional surgeries, handled over 20,000 patient inquiries via WeChat or mobile phone, and conducted more than 100 public health lectures, continuously empowering grassroots medical development with his professional expertise. Since engaging in charitable work, he has personally funded and assisted 21 impoverished patients, with total expenditures amounting to several hundred thousand yuan.

"Giving back to the country and society with fifty years of medical experience and conveying the warmth of a physician through public welfare has always been my original aspiration and pursuit." At the launching ceremony, Professor Qi Xiangqian shared the motivation behind his dedication to public welfare. This charitable funding project is not only an important extension of his public welfare practice but also precisely addresses the practical needs of local medical talent training and the medical expectations of patients in need, playing a significant role in resolving the pain points in grassroots medical development.
