Tianjin Perennial Hospital Stomatology Department
Located on the third floor of the general hospital's outpatient department, the department currently occupies a medical area of 800 square meters, featuring 7 consultation rooms and 1 dental implant room. It provides multidisciplinary oral health services, including operative dentistry and endodontics, periodontics, prosthodontics, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, preventive dentistry, oral mucosal diseases, and oral and maxillofacial surgery.
The department has achieved a domestic leading level in aesthetic restorations, all-ceramic restorations, CAD/CAM restorations, implant restorations, micro-root canal therapy, pediatric dental treatment under general anesthesia, painless tooth extractions, tooth extractions under ECG monitoring, and digital radiographic diagnosis. In particular, its refined microscopic dental diagnosis and treatment technology has shifted the approach from "vague judgment" to "precision diagnosis and treatment," significantly improving clinical effectiveness and safety. The centralized reverse osmosis pure water and pipeline disinfection system effectively helps control cross-infections.

Recycling and Sorting:
All used instruments are centrally collected and immediately transferred to a dedicated decontamination area. Here, they are strictly sorted according to material, shape, and contamination risk, ensuring each type receives the most appropriate processing and laying a solid foundation for the entire sterilization workflow.
Deep Cleaning:
For any reusable instrument, the first step in its recovery journey is thorough cleaning. After manual brushing pre-treatment, ultrasonic cleaners are employed. Through high-frequency vibrations generating countless microscopic bubbles that implode on instrument surfaces and crevices, they efficiently strip away invisible blood residues, tissue remnants, and biofilms. This deep "SPA" ensures that subsequent sterilization steps can achieve 100% effectiveness.
Drying, Inspection, and Maintenance:
After cleaning, instruments must be completely dried. High-pressure air is used to ensure no moisture remains on surfaces or within complex joints, preventing bacterial growth. Staff then rigorously inspect each instrument's joints and crevices to ensure functional integrity and thorough cleaning, followed by necessary maintenance.
Strict Packaging:
After inspection and maintenance, instruments are immediately moved to the packaging area – a critical step before sterilization. Using automatic sealers, instruments are sealed in specialized sterilization pouches. The purpose of pre-packaging is to ensure that after sterilization, instruments remain in a sterile, sealed environment until they are opened in front of the patient, completely preventing any risk of secondary contamination.
Autoclave Sterilization:
The packaged instruments proceed to the core of sterilization – the autoclave (high-pressure steam sterilizer), internationally recognized as the safest and most reliable sterilization method. It uses high-temperature, high-pressure saturated steam maintained for a sufficient duration to completely inactivate all microorganisms, including highly resistant bacterial spores.
Proving Sterilization Effectiveness – A Three-Level Monitoring System:
Physical Monitoring: Real-time monitoring and recording of key parameters (temperature, pressure, time) during each sterilization cycle.
Chemical Monitoring: Chemical indicator tapes/cards placed inside and outside each pack provide visual confirmation that sterilization conditions were met.
Biological Monitoring: The highest level of verification. Biological detectors are used regularly to perform challenge tests on the sterilizer.
Only when results show "all bacterial spores have been completely killed" is the sterilization cycle validated as absolutely reliable. This final "quality control" checkpoint is our most tangible commitment to "sterility."
Safe Storage and Issuance:
All sterilized instruments that pass monitoring are transferred to a dedicated "sterile storage area." This clean, dry environment ensures they remain in optimal condition within their validated shelf life, ready to serve patients at any time.
Centralized Reverse Osmosis Pure Water and Pipeline Disinfection System:
In dental treatment, water sprayed from handpieces and triplex syringes comes into direct contact with patients' oral tissues. For this reason, we are equipped with a reverse osmosis pure water system that produces treatment water of extremely high chemical and microbiological purity. More notably, this system also features pipeline disinfection – it automatically and periodically performs circulatory disinfection of the entire water delivery line, ensuring that every drop of water, from source to outlet, remains pure and safe.
