Professor Liu Qiang's Studio Launches at Perennial General Hospital Tianjin, Advancing Thoracic Surgery Excellence

On June 13, the inauguration ceremony for the "Professor Liu Qiang Innovation in Diagnosis, Treatment, and Clinical Research Studio" and the "Thoracic Surgery Professional Committee of the Chinese Non-Government Medical Institutions Association (CNMIA)" was successfully held at Perennial Healthcare City Tianjin. This milestone marks a new breakthrough for the hospital in thoracic surgery discipline development, high-level talent introduction, and industry exchange and collaboration, and is expected to further drive steady progress in regional thoracic surgery medical technology and research capabilities.

At the ceremony, Liu Dan, Dean of Perennial Healthcare City Tianjin and Dean of the General Hospital, delivered the opening address. He stated that the introduction of Professor Liu Qiang's professional team represents a significant milestone in the hospital's disciplinary development. The hospital will fully support the work of the studio and work hand in hand with the team to deepen efforts in the field of thoracic surgery and promote high-quality disciplinary advancement.

Professor Liu Qiang, Director of the Department of Thoracic Surgery at Peking University International Hospital and Chairman of the Thoracic Surgery Professional Committee of the CNMIA, shared his insights on thoracic surgery discipline development. He mentioned that the studio will comprehensively enhance the hospital's technical capabilities and management standards in thoracic surgery through specialist outpatient services, surgical mentorship, academic training, and multidisciplinary consultations on complex cases.

During the ceremony, video addresses were played from Chen Meilan, CEO of Perennial Healthcare, and Yang Ling, Chief Operating Officer of Perennial Healthcare and Managing Director of the Greater Bay Area. Both expressed their congratulations on the establishment of the studio, acknowledging the positive impact of this collaboration on strengthening specialized capabilities and promoting regional medical coordination, and expressed their anticipation for a mutually beneficial partnership.

The unveiling ceremony was jointly performed by Liu Dan, Liu Qiang, Zhu Liqin, Sun Ning, and other distinguished guests in attendance.

Perennial General Hospital Tianjin, developed by Singapore's Perennial Holdings, is the first wholly foreign-owned tertiary general hospital in China. The establishment of this studio aims to bring together top-tier thoracic surgery resources from across the country and elevate Tianjin's thoracic surgery standards to the forefront of domestic practice.

Moving forward, the studio will focus on three core areas: clinical diagnosis and treatment, academic research, and disciplinary development. Regular specialist outpatient services will be established, along with participation in complex case consultations, performance of high-difficulty surgeries, teaching rounds, and mentorship to strengthen clinical capabilities. Academic lectures, seminars, and professional training will be organized through industry platforms to deepen cross-regional academic exchange and promote clinical research and technological innovation. Comprehensive support will be provided for departmental development, talent pipeline building, and the overall advancement of thoracic surgery across Tianjin and the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, ensuring that patients have access to cutting-edge, high-quality thoracic surgical care close to home.

Following the ceremony, a Distinguished Physician Appointment Ceremony was held, during which Dean Liu Dan presented Professor Liu Qiang with the appointment letter as "Distinguished Thoracic Surgeon."

The event was attended by representatives from the CNMIA, thoracic surgery experts from across the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, leaders of partner institutions, and guests from various sectors. Participating experts engaged in in-depth discussions on cutting-edge thoracic surgery techniques and models of specialized collaboration, fostering a vibrant academic atmosphere.

In the next phase, the Professor Liu Qiang Innovation in Diagnosis, Treatment, and Clinical Research Studio will conduct regular clinical activities including outpatient services, surgeries, teaching rounds, and consultations. Academic conferences, primary care training, and collaborative research will be organized on an ongoing basis, empowering thoracic surgery development in Tianjin and the broader Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region, continuously enhancing regional medical service capacity, and delivering tangible benefits to patients.
